MTB Tour in Catalonia: From the Pyrenees to La Garrotxa

This customized MTB tour in Catalonia connected some of the most diverse and beautiful riding areas in the region.

Starting high in the Pyrenees at 2070m and finishing inland near Girona at 400m above sea level, this journey offered an unforgettable mix of:

• High mountain riding
• Flowing singletracks
• Cultural heritage
• Gastronomy

The riders — Frank, John K., Dave, Paul and John M. — traveled from North America, guided by Alexis and Jordi on this unique adventure.

Stage 1: La Cerdanya & High Pyrenees Riding

The journey began in the stunning La Cerdanya valley, riding from 2000m down to 1000m.

Highlights included:

• A long descent through one of the oldest fir forests in the Pyrenees
• Flowing singletracks following the Segre river
• Passing by beautiful Romanesque churches from the 12th century

A perfect combination of nature, flow and history.

Stage 2: Lluçanès – Hidden Trails & Culture

The second stage took place in the peaceful region of Lluçanès, one of Catalonia’s hidden gems.

In the afternoon, we designed a more relaxed ride featuring:

• Rolling terrain
• Quiet natural landscapes
• Forests of oak and red pine

The highlight was a cultural stop at the Lluçà Monastery, perfectly integrated into the route.

Stage 3: La Garrotxa – Volcanic Landscapes & Medieval Villages

The final stage brought us to the unique volcanic region of La Garrotxa, one of the most special MTB destinations in Catalonia.

During the ride, we stopped in Santa Pau, a beautifully preserved medieval village where:

• The original street layout remains intact
• History blends perfectly with the riding experience

A truly unique place to explore on a bike.

The Perfect Ending: Gastronomy at Its Finest

The icing on the cake was the final lunch at Les Cols Restaurant, awarded with 2 Michelin stars.
